normal temps

Just noticed around town it seems to be running a bit warmer than usual. Engine is a little sludgey on the outside so I plan on cleaning it up tomorrow. Was thinking it was a dirty sensor but how normal are these temps?

this is after a ten minute run around town and its 84 degrees out today. planned on doing a coolant change soon as it did sit 6+ months.

and yes I know my gas gauge is broken I bought it that way.

Radiator needs flushed. Fan is probably on full time at those temps right?

Didn't see it turn on. However I just got back from a drive along the mountains and it stayed at normal temps the whole time. Coolant might be low as the overflow tank is completely empty. I agree it probably needs a good flush. I didn't red line it this time but I certainly enjoyed myself. Its always gone up in temp when I'm sitting in traffic but is that a dangerous spot for it to be temp wise? I've never seen it go more than a hair past there even red lining it through every gear. Might need a flush just to be safe. It sits a hair above midline at idle.

If your gas gauge is broken how can you trust the temp gauge?

Because I verified it was just the sending unit and am too lazy to replace it yet. My trips are short enough where I'm not concerned about whether ill run out of gas. Temp is more of a concern.

Mine goes up sitting at idle at a stop light too. Not as high as yours but definitely at least half way. As soon as I start moving, it moves back down.

Someone mind taking a picture of theirs warmed up for reference? My coolant levels are low and I have to wait until I get the chance to run to Wal-Mart to get more. But warming up like that can that be something wrong? It seems to run fine. It never passes there

the normal position is about a needle width to the left of the coolant symbol, so its just off center.

the fan should come on when it hits the center, it should be pretty audible.

if you want numbers the first hash from cold is 65c, and the hash before H is 110, the center is like 92ish.

if you put an aftermarket gauge in there, it'll match the factory one

Haha yeah common sense, I said on here before I've put less than 300 miles on my car in the last year. So that was probably from the original owner as far as things being low, I drove it to walmart and work on occasion, oil was always more of a concern to me.

I definitely need to put one in with actual temperature listed. redlining it last night I could not get it to go past the line listed above in the pic, it was slightly lower actually. think my gauge may be acting up as well. planned on getting some degreaser and cleaning the whole engine bay today along with basic maintenance.
