how would the 12a sound if I just got a header off RB, and replaced the muffler with a straight pipe?

I may need a resonator as well, I plan on RB header/resonator only (with pipes inbetween).

I know that doing that on my Protege will make it sound deeper than with header/straightpipes only. straight piped would make it sound like a bee/honduh

Resonator or not,I dont think its possible to make a RB muffler sound like a bee,or any other obnoxious insect. They are so heavy and have so much packing material that they completely cancel out all high frequency sound.Ive run a RB muffler for 10 years, with almost every combo of engine and exhaust system imaginable, and Ive never had anything but mellow, muted bass come out my tailpipe.
Now any rotary with a header or even stock manifold and a straightpipe......forget about it,thats loud.Even the RB presilcencers dont do much in the way of silencing. They just dont have the volume to do much, compared to the RB mufflers.

No its not the way to do it, lol. I have the RB muffler. I got mine for free though, haha, good friend. It's not worth it in my opinion. It's too exspensive. You could get a whole custom exhaust for probably 600. Just my opinion. I like it though. It sure looks good though with the chrome tips on a white car. Its just to exspensive.

Do you plan on keeping that muffler as a reminder to never go that cheap?

That muffler looks like you had a very healthy backfire. Folded seam mufflers will not hold up at all, they need to be seam welded.

if it was seam welded, that would have been a crazy fireball.
