Angry noisy rear hatch

while driving i always here a creaking and crackling coming from the rear...

it hasn't bothered me before but always kept it in the back of my mind that i will fix it someday...well...

since i put in all the new audio equip its time to find this noise...

i took out the spare...no fix...
i unlocked the hatch...no fix...
i opened the hatch all the way and there it was...noise gone...

so at that point i lubed up the lock and hinges and cleaned the seal...locked the glass back down and no difference...

has anyone else had this issue? what can i do?

I'm gonna try to put some petroleum jelly around the seal and leave it a lil greasy to see if it helps soften it and seal better. I get the same lil rubbing noise in the back.

When mine was noisy all it was was that the whole latch mechanism was loose. I just tightened up the bolts. Get a latch from a junkyard and seeif it helps. It'll only cost a few bucks.

that was the first i've done...tightened everything down...then took it all out to eliminate it from the possibilies...

its definately the hatch glass because if i leave it up it won't do it...but if the hatch glass is down it will do it...i'll check after work today in tightening the hinges...hopefully that'll be it
