Fuel Pump Problems
I've had this problem before a while ago and it for some reason disappeared.
The problem that i am having is my fuel pump, just today, starts to make a whining sound. It sounds like a low Whaaaumm Whaaaumm sound if you can mimic that. Anyways it randomly dies at a complete stop during idle, then i had to crank it over like 8 times at the stoplight before it started. It also cuts out when i am accelerating, this is when i mostly noticed it, and also randomly when i was cruising. It feels like simply no fuel is being supplied and all the sudden a burst of fuel comes in.
I do have a fuel leak which i am thinking is coming from my fuel sensor on the tank. Yes i know this is pretty dangerous.
Are their any lines to and from the tank that could be causing this to happen? Remember this has only happened when my fuel pump begins to make this whining sound. I truly am clueless, ANY help would be awesome.

Sounds like something may be clogging up before the fuel pump making it strain to draw up any gas? Checked the fuel filter lately? Ever had the tank dropped and cleaned?

fuel pumps are a big issue with me. I bought a new one and it seemed to work fine. After searching my whole fuel system, from tank to carb rebuild, I found the new pump was only pumping 1 pound of pressure. So, check your fuel pressure (3-4 lbs for 12a carbed), check your volume 1400cc per minute. If it passes the test the pump is fine. Then check electrical to the pump, could be a poor ground or short.
