noise through speakers when wiper switch is pressed

on my 82 GSL, whenever i switch on my wipers or when they are in the first intermittent setting and the wipes move, i hear a small "pop" through the speakers. what could cause this? a bad amp?

Is this a recent problem or has it been happening since you've owned the car? my guess is a bad ground somewhere.

I'm going with the ground idea also, especially if it clicks through the radio when the wiper motor turns on/off. If the noiseis constant while the motor is running, then the motor is bleeding electricity and may be on it's way out. You might also be missing or have a bad condensor somewhere.

the noise only happens when i switch the wipers on or when in the intermittent setting 1, and the wipers engage, then i hear a quick pop through the speakers. what ground(s) should i be looking for at this point? would it be best just to go through and clean the grounds on the LF strut tower, the one on the firewall, and the one at the bellhousing? or is there or are there specific grounding points to look at when dealing with the stereo or wiper switch wiring?

honestly any ground could be the cause, and its goin to be fun finding it. go ahead and clean the grounds you mentioned (it never hurts), but your best bet is to get a FSM or atleast the wiring diagram part(can be downloaded for free via here, just search) and start tracing the wires for the stereo and wiper motors and you'll probably come across some cracked or corroded wires. good hunting
