No power above 3000 RPM's

My 85 GS just started this a few weeks ago. She has a complete loss of power above 3000 and sputters kind a like she wants to go but can't.

Is my cat logged or maybe a jet in my carb or even a fuel filter?

All of the ignition checks out perfect, i looked down the carb and both jets seem to be working fine.

What about my secondaries, how can i test them?

How hard is it punch through my Cat?

Help please!!!!!!

i'd start with the gas filter, then work towards the carbie. i know the gas filter is a bigger pain in the ***, but i'm more afraid of carbies than i am lazy ...

filter isn't hard to change, just messy. i would start there then go to the cat.

blitz, i'd check your cat if you already havnt, when I got my car it would barely start and only run at ~350 rpm, if i even touched the gas pedal it would die. Gutted the cat, runs great, no problems at all until last week when my muffler exploded Oh well, got an apexi n1 thats going to be on there tomorrow.

I pulled the cat out a long time ago, along with the air pump and the rats nest. It ran fine until just recently. I tried to let it run with my exhaust off to see if somehow my presilencer got clogged, and still no go. Replaced my old fuel pump that died with a new holley tahts regulated to 5 psi, the plugs are dark, so im running rich. I took apart my carb and reset the floats, but it runs even worse that before....

Your carb right?
Talk to the carb'd guys about checking the acelerator pump and the other valve that can be blocked off in the air cleaner (anti afterburn?)

Alright, i set the pump to 4 psi, and it runs a little better. Can anyone give me a list of pumps or valves to check?

check the check valve in the return line and make sure its still functioning right. also make sure you can blow through to the tank.

Fixed!

It was my cat, I unbolted it and took it for a drive and what a difference, it's not a motor boat any more. I cleaned the cat out using a crobar and the car drives a great, a bit louder but who cares.
