No Idle adjust screw????

Hi, I have an 85 rx7 GS. According to the repair book there should be two screws--one over the other. One adjusts the mix and one adjusts the idle. I can only find one and it seems to be the mixture screw since idle speed is not effected by it. It is double-slotted for use with either a flat blade or a phillips screwdriver. There is neither an adjustment screw or cap above or below it. What gives????

I believe that is for the older models, or for the CA models only. The idle speed screw is located roughly 2-2.5 inches to the right of the mixture screw. Its kinda hard to see, it is tucked underneath some stuff. If memory serves correctly, its located right next to where the choke cable/throttle cables hook to the carb.

It is just in front of the cables on the lower part of the carb. You are right that it is very hard to see. If you get a flashlight and get way down by the fender you can see it through the mess of cables and hoses. I found mine and adjusted it accordingly.

Once you find it, take the cap off and spraypaint it something like Neon Pink. It'll be THAT much easier to find next time (if you have a clean engine, with no nest, you MAY not want to do this, lol)

Yeah. He just has a carb from an 81-85 on there, that's all. But if you go get a rebuild kit for a 1146cc Rx-7, it'll have the gaskets for rebuilding any of the first gen years' carbs, and even some earlier ones, too.
