No Fuel!!!

Well I recived two RX7's for free from a guy here in my town. I am working on smacking the two cars into one car and today I tryed to get the one with the good engine running again. I went out and it turned over and over again with no offers. So I pulled off the air filter cover and dumped some fuel in there and it will run perfect as long as I keep dumping fuel in there. So I took off the fuel line and I couldnt get any fuel up through there. I can here the pump cutting in but it then cuts out after a second of turning over the car. There is about 5 gallons of fuel in the car right now. I am going to make sure the fuel filter isnt plugged after just to narrow down a problem. I am also wondering what way the fuel check valve goes because it doesn't have the arrow on it anymore. What do you guys think I should do to get some fuel to the engine?!?! All responses are very much apreciated!!! Thanks!!!

If the car has been sitting for any amount of time there is a good chance that their is rust in the tank. Pull the feed line from the tank and see if fuel will just gravity feed out. If it will not you have problems in the tank. If there is good flow then lean towards the fuel filter. Make sure that the fuel pump wiring is good also.

I had a similar problem, I replaced all fuel lines and the fuel pump. Turned out to be a clogged line in the tank. I took it to a radiator shop where they cleaned it, braised in a new fuel line and coated it. Works great now!

When I get a chance I am going to drop the tank out and check that because it was sitting for about a year with no fuel in it. So I will check over all that. I gotta say tho when the engine ran on the fuel dumped in it ran beautifuly.
Thanks for the responses. More opinions are welcome!!
