Question No electrical juice

I'm a proud owner of a 1985 GSL-SE. Late thursday the car did'nt start so I tried to pushed started due to flooding problems before. I trobleshoot the ignition to find out there are no current flowing thru the sparkplugs. How do you trobleshoot the igniters?

A couple of questions here;

1. Do you have power to everything else (lights, etc.)?

2. Do you have spark on any of the plugs, or are they all dead? It would be unlikely that you lost both of your ignitors at once.

Well it sounds odd but I don't have no current flowing thru any of the sparkplugs.

Yes I do have power to lights, radio, ac and everything else

What year and trim (GS, GSL, GSL-SE) is your car?

Not having spark to any of the plugs is odd. The common link there would be cap/rotor, have you inspected these?

Depending on the year of the car, you may have fusible links (located on driver's side wheel well on the forward side). The one in the middle controls almost everything, with the possible exception of the lights/retractors. However, when mine burned up I had no power to anything so that's probably not it. Easy to check out and eliminate though...

One other possibility might be your ignition lock cylinder, but that would also be a longshot.

How did you verify that you do not have spark to the plugs?

Sorry I haven't been able to help you so far, you come to the forum for answers and all you get are more questions. LOL. But since I can't exactly come over and take a look at the car, you'll have to be my eyes for a bit. We should get this fixed with just a little more info, and there are members on this board with much more experience too. We'll get her running soon enough.

Oh, and welcome to the forum by the way!

Well let me be the eyes:
car description 1985 gsl-se, jacobs ignition coils, ngk spark plugs, bonenz down pipe no other mods so far. I tested all the fusible links and they tested right. Spark plugs, wires, distributor cap and rotor are a month old. Ignition rotor turn when crank the engine. you are talking about a ignition lock cylinder where i found this.

Thanks for all the help and I don;t mind the ??? I just keep zoom, zoom, zoom

Ok, I'll need to think about this a little later but hopefully someone else can jump in with some ideas.

I hurt my back and I'm on so many pain pills and muscle relaxants I can't even keep my eyes from going crossed right now. I'd probably end up telling you to check the timing chain or the head gasket right now...

Hang in there, help is on the way..

Now,

You've got a down pipe, most people don't have those unless they are turbo\S/C (I could be wrong though).

This sounds really stupid but do the following;

1) Check every fuse, twice.
2) Check every fusable link, twice (i.e. switch them around with each other)--if you've got a first generation.
3) Take the coil wires, leading, ground it out and see if it'll produce any spark what so ever.

Did it work before you changed the coils?
