Nikki Vs Holly Carbs... Effectiveness for $$$?
Ive got a 79 SA22C and ive decided to ether to find a stock nikki carb and rebuild it(which i have a 79, and they are no where to be found) OR go with a Holly carb setup... i did a quick search on it and got nada... my car hasnt ran in about 2-3 months and im 90% sure that its the carb thats messed up...(which is an 83 carb with 79 emissions setup)
What else would I have to get and do to my 7 to go the holly route? not really trying to get major hp gains or anything, just want my car to run while keeping it under a small fortune. And to the fact that its nearly impossiable to find a 79-80 carb... even one that needs rebuilt. I had a few friends say that if i had a holly setup, it would be easer to maintain than a nikki and that is more "widely known" than the nikki. How hard are they to aquire and what would i have to do? and if anyone has any links or hookups to where as i can find eather, that would be great.
what do you guys think? Keep trying to find a 79 Nikki or say F*** it to the nikki and try and use a holly?
Also any other ideas would be helpful...

holley you'll have to go with a mostly straight through exhaust setup with headers to see any benefits, also ignition since its pushing so much more gas in. mileage also sucks.
personally on a 12a where u arent looking to make tons of power i would go with a sterling rebuild/modded nikki. i havent seen him posting much lately but im sure if you search around you could get in contact with him. saves some cash and keeps drivability.

If you are running no emissions system- everything blocked off, then you can put any of the Rx7 Nikkis on her.
I don't have any 79/80 carbs that are not already apart and set up for heavy modding. But I PMed you, as well as a possible source on this forum. Hopefully he has what you need, and he's a really nice guy.
You can also try ebay.

I made a adaptor for my holley. I used a 1 inch thick piece of phenolic. It looks like a funnel on the inside. Works great and i get about 28 mpg on highway. But because the adaptor acts like a open plenum the power band has moved up from 4000 to 9000 instead of 2000 to7000.
