I just rebuilt mine the other day, then took it apart, then put it back together.

I think I took the dang thing off about 5 times, took the top off two times on the car and now its finally staying (or so I hope!)

My advice to you is take LOTS of pictures. I have some on my computer which can be uploaded if requested. It helps so much to have the pictures, it makes life so much easier.

Another piece of advice is get a lot of carb cleaner, paper towels and q-tips. It will help to have an air hose as well.

Good luck!

Where did you get your rebuild kit from? I had a hard time finding one.

I do not recommend paper towels for a carb rebuild. Your best bet is compressed air to dry off parts, or use a good mechanics rag, but NO paper...

I didn't use the paper towels IN the carb, I used them to wipe off the outside of it. I then blew it off the the air hose.

Id do what 93RX7 did. Don't use paper, use a rag.

i just got mine done and on my car today, i have an 83 too, and it runs. i have never rebuilt a carb before, or even been inside one. it was basically take the whole thing apart, clean everything, put the new stuff on where you can, and put it all back together. i found it to be not that difficult.
