nikki carb question

nikki carb question

Hi everybody,just a quick question before i rebuild my 79 carb,i have been offered a later carb will later nikki carbs install on my 79.If so do i have to do anything special or should i just rebuild my original 79 carb thanks Colin fort pierce florida

Any '79-85 carburetor will work fine, but they differ in a number of ways that will impact emissions, if that kind of thing matters where you live. It would be easier to just rebuild the '79 carb, IMHO. Any carburetor that's off another vehicle may need a rebuild as well, and if you're going to the trouble of getting the sucker off the car, you may as well just do the rebuild anyhow.

thanks for the answer,Both carbs do need a rebuild i was just wondering if there was any advantage to using newer one,seems to have a lot less garbage attached to it.
