Nikki Carb Problems

I picked up an 83 RX7 with some Nikki carb problems. I know the accerator pump is bad because it stumbles off idle (also did squirt test). But when I pulled the plugs I noticed the front rotor is running lean and the rear is running very rich. I just received a carb kit but no floats are included. Should I replace the floats or do you think I have a worn needle and seat thats making the rear rotor rich? The carb has never been rebuilt. (2 owner car with all receipts from both).

Thanks for the help.

rebuild kits don't come with floats. unless they're allowing fuel to get in them there's no need to replace them. not sure why one rotor is running lean while the other is rich, never ran into that problem before. give it a good cleaning making sure to get into all the passages with some carb cleaner.

I hear ya... Thats why I'm thinking the rear float is fuel soaked.

Anyone else come across this?

You can buy new floats from autozone if necessary. I would be checking the float level on both sides to make sure both are the same. Might take a bit of digging to discover the sight glasses as they are often covered in grease.

If both are the same you would be looking at a partially blocked jet I think. If the AP is leaking, you might as well just rebuild it and give it a good clean, this should eliminate both problems.
