Nice FC seats on eBay

These would be sweet in a 1st Gen. Dirrect fit too.

I wonder how heavy they are?

Would they fit in a 1st Gen? I've been wondering that because I need new seats and I've been looking at some later model interiors and I'd like to have some 2nd Gen seats or 3rd Gen if they fit.

2nd gen seats can go straight in, no problem. I had 2nd gen (gray cloth) ones until I replaced them with custom 3gen seats. Those aren't an easy fit!!! If you want to avoid to much trouble, go 2nd gen. If you like some problems to be solved: go 3rd gen :-)

I will be likely be Selling my Recaros in the not so distant future. I am not tiny, and even though they fit nice, it keeps me at about 1" higher than stock on the passenger side.

I haven't tried the driver seat yet, as I haven't put the rails on it. Besides, I still have to finish the wiring. That's why I haven't decided If I am selling just yet.
I absolutely love the seats, and I don't want to sell them until I *know* I am not going to use them.

Well, I made a custom frame from 5mm thick steel, and welded the FB rails on there. Then drilled holes for the FD seats to be mounted on. Sound easy, but it's not.
The passengers side has a rail under an angle, and there's no way this can be mated to the FD seats. Or they will be very high. So I ended up mounting the passenger seat solid. So it can't move forward/backwards anymore. Doesn't really matter, since my wife had the seat all the way back anyway.
I'll post pics of the rails in a few weeks, as I'll take out the interior then.
