The next step?

So this is my car right now:

Reman 13 6 port with large streetport from Atkins
Racing beat header/presilencer
Strut Tower Bar
Torque Brace
Lowering Springs
MSD Ignition Box
K&N Filter

So yea, im looking for my next performance gain. The way i see it, i have 2 options.

Option 1: Buy a new ECU(haltech, or somethign of that likes) and put that on.

Option 2: Buy a carb setup(holley probably, unless i can find the old school delorto)

Now, price is an issue. I know that with an after market ecu and a s5 intake(2 more injectors, and i already have the s5 intake) i will make alot of power, and EFI will always be able t make more power, it just costs alot more money. On the other hand the carb, throw 500 or so and bam instant power and alot of it. What is everyones opinion, which way do u think i should go and how much of a gain do u think i will see, keep in mind if i go with the ECU i wont have money to upgrade it any further, so we are looking at just adding the s5 intake and ECU or going carb.

broke7 has a nice dellorto setup for sale. Its for a 12A but if you dont want the lower intake ill buy it from him. He is a good guy ive bought many things from him. I did own a dellorto and it is a sweet setup. I dont like all the efi stuff i like it simple. just my opinion. Good luck and keep us poasted.

I say keep it EFI, I wanted fuel injection for the longest time.

I think keeping it EFI will save you headaches down the road, and has the better gas mileage/reliability than most carb set ups.

I agree with drift on this one. Going from EFI to carb is like trading in your 3.2 Ghz computer for a Pentium 1.
It may be a bit more expensive to modify EFI, but theres a lot more you can do with it.

keep it EFI. There will be a learning curve with either setup (jets and air bleeds, etc. on your carb and tuning your EK6), but I think that that the final outcome of the EFI (easier starts, more precise tuning giving more power and better economy) will be well worth the step up in money. Plus, if you get the EK6, you're already setup, besides injectors, lines, and pump, for a turbo . If you go carb you'll have to have it boost prepped, and then be very careful as you tune the jets and bleeds.

While initial cost may be an issue, going with the S5 intake and MegaSquirt will save headaches and cash in the long run.

Another, of course more expensive, option that I would like to see someone here try is the Tweakit/TWM throttlebody mounted on the RB uim for a 2 barrel carb, then add a standalone.
