Newbie help request -- suspension and seals

I'm asking for some help here.

A month ago I acquired through some in-law negotiation a 1982 RX-7 GLS (black with red leather interior). It got a new engine, I'm told by someone who might not know, about a decade ago. Still a 12A, I think. Other than that, everything's original stock.

I think it needs: new bushings, new suspension, new tires. Some interior work, though not much. Might need tuning. Probably needs new seals.

So I'm hoping for a pointer on a reliable shop in the San Francisco Bay Area to deal with the seals.

Also, while I think I cruised the right FAQs in the forums, I could certainly use some advice on shocks, springs, and tires.

Thanks in advance....

What seals? And you should post you quest for a good shop in the bay area in the west forum. As far as the shocks/springs and tires go you should tell us what your plans are for the car. Or what your looking for result wise.

Oh, and welcome to the board.

Thanks for the welcome.

Seals...er...um...well, when I start the engine after a couple of days of not driving the car, I get a lot of exhaust smoke. I'm thinking oil's dripping into the combustion chamber. No?

I'll go to the west forum as you say for the mechanic rec, but my goal here is to be able to take the car to a race driving class and learn how to use the thing. That's intermediate-term; short term is just to be able to drive it on California freeways without worrying about losing traction and without the steering being all floaty.

Got any pointers?
