newb trying to install msd (how to?)

Just wondering if you guys could give me a step by step on how to install the msd on my gsl. It's for a friend of mine and his ignitor broke so he is wondering if he can use the msd in place of the ignitor or does he need the ignitor? Thanks for any info you can give.

this kind of tells us what wires to hook up but I'm still unsure if we need the ignitors or not. Thanks

Look on the FAQ page under:

Q. Can I convert to direct fire ignition?

If your friend doesn't already have all the MSD stuff, look at DLIDFIS with HEI igniters. Straightforward, works well, and is about $100 for all the stuff.

Well what does he need to just hook up the box to the distributer? And does he need the stock ignitors? We don't want to do anything fancy we just want to put the msd on the dizzy. Thanks for the help so far.

FAQ writeups are very good. Have done it with MSD and Jacobs. Wires into ignitor.

Here's a picture sent to me from a rep at MSD. It shows how to do a single and dual box setup. Hope this helps.
