New windshield.....Trim?
Hey
I have deep swirls in my windsheild and I am going to replace it.....
My trim is in need of some help....Since all the trim has to come off to remove the windshield.........Can you remove the trim..........paint it...still drive the car with out the trim pieces? Or are they used to support the windshield..........What do you use to remove these pieces?
What paint color and type would you use to re-paint?
How would you prep the pieces? Sand them? what type of paper?
Would you replace anything else with the new windshield?
OK I think I am done..............

driving without the trip looks ugly but has no effect. (i donot have mine on. i am still looking for some). as far as taking them off, i am not exactly sure. i know that you will end up breaking the clips, so you will have to get new ones of those.

Yeah the trim doesnt hold anything , its just for looks, the windshield is held in with that black goopy stuff, whats it called eurethane?
Sand them with fine grit sand paper (600 grit or so), and then vist your local paint store and get some SEM trim paint, its available in a ton of colors. But being me, Im just old basic flat black By the way be prepared it isnt cheap usually about 7 a can, but the stuff is awesome..
The clips that hold the trim on, break very easily and are a bitch to locate. I eventually got mine from an aftermarket supplier via the windshield shop...
