All right my car is acting really wierd.
It started last week with my oil guage stoping working, no big deal.
Now if I run it to redline in either 1st or 2nd I geet this loud Zoosh. sounds like im hitting a 1000hp shot of nitrous, but dont really go anywhere.

Also if the car is at idol, and I barely tap the gas it makes this loud growl/burp sound that last about a half second then is gone and reves up normaly.

Also the car feels a little short on horsepower and have gone from 20 Mpg on the freeway to aroung 16 Mpg.

SO WTF!? I have looked around for any leaking vacume hoses and havent been abel to spot it, so what ever you guys can help with would be great!!

 

How's your carb look? Have you messed with it at all?

I adjusted my air/fuel mixture receantly, was almost 6 turns out. set it to about 3 1/2 turns. and thats it.

 

Sounds like a vacuum leak, that might turn to a little positive displacement under load.

Try spraying carb cleaner around the hoses, etc, and see if the idle changes to look for the leaks.

Well I went out and spent about 30 mins looking and feeling around for any Vaccume leaks and cant find anything. I dont know if its just that its cold or not but it isnt making that growl/burp anymore. Im gonna go drive it around for a little later and see if it does it.

Anyone have any specific areas they think I should look.

Also is it ok to just disconnect the cold start flapper thingy in the bell of my air cleaner. Im not runnin any hose for the warm air.
