New stereo/speakers?

Yes, I did a search but I couldn't find anything on the FB board about sound systems. My tape deck finally kicked out so I am going to at least replace that with a CD player but i'm wondering if it is worth it to replace the speakers as well. Sometimes they pop and there is a little crackling going on but I don't know if that justifies the money. What speakers should i look at as replacements and is it possble to replace the radio/tape deck but keep the equilizer because I really like that. Thanks

hey man u wont need to keep the equalizer b/c todays new cd's players have electronic equalizers so u wont have the actual ***** there to adjust...its all on the deck unit.....u wont really need to change out ur speakers unless ur going to crank up ur system....but if ur not looking at running an amplifier into ur speakers u can get just about kind...preferable nothing from wal*mart tho....i think the rear speakers are 6.5" and the front are 3"....hopefully this helps a little....if u have more questions just pm....l8r...parker

I believe the fronts are 4"??
Try and find a 2 din sized deck to fit into that hole so it looks like a nice clean install.
Personally, I'd replace the speakers as well, nothing to expensive, but stuff has changed from when the factory speakers were made so some stuff sounds better.
You could also buy a 1 din deck, and a 1 din electronic sound processor when has built in corssovers and sub woofer controls..as well as 15 band eq I tihnk on certain models.

4 inchers in the front, 6.5s in the back.

CDT sells a package of their component speakers with a pair of 4" and a pair of 6.5" speakers with four cross overs and two silk dome speakers. I have them in my car, and they are fantastic. I got them on sale for $240 from www.mmxpress.com Quite possibly the best component speakers I have ever heard in my life. Be sure to buy a equally fantastic amp, too, though!

They are $250 here: http://www.boostcaraudio.com/CDT_Aud...1_p/cl-641.htm

*EDIT* You can check out CDT's website at http://www.cdtaudio.com/

I stated in another thread recently that I thought I might should have gone with components this go-round. I'm glad to hear that you have had success with the ones you bought. Where did you put the tweets ? Do you also have a sub ? or just getting plently from the 6.5's ? Thanks for the info.

I have 4's and 6.5's and 6x9's and a 10" sub and am in the middle of changing the california 4 channel amp out and replacing with two 4 channel mtx's. I'm afraid I've not followed my own advice and will have too much power through too many speakers for my listening tastes.

Well, at least I won't be able to hear the holley red fuel pump anymore

personally i wouldnt go with a double din radio. your gonna pay more and have less features than a standard deck.
clean85owner ive never heard of the cdt's but i just chcked out the specs on the site and they look pretty good. what other components are you comparing them to? how do they sound compared to say boston acoustics or focals?

If you are going to do it, do it right

Dennon DCT 2000, or its newer sibling.

MBQuart QSD 213, or PSD 213 component set
MB Quart TX3 100mm for a center channel,
a set of image dynamics 6.5's for midbases,
and 1 solobaric 12 for the sub.

put your components in kickpanels at about a -20 degree angle relative to the tweeters off axis limit (and set the crossover at -3 db)

use a good 24db x-over for all components, and get some older ADS, or Orion (92~97) amps (soundstream if you can't find the older orions). and relax and listen to music the way its supposed to sound (140+ db crystal clear!)
