Ebay seems to be the best now days. You can get shocks for pretty good prices on there.

Not sure what you mean by rough, but keep in mind that RX-7's come with a pretty stiff suspension from the factory. If you want to spend some money than probably Tokiko Illuminas are a good option. Otherwise, tokiko hp's, KYB's, or even a stock replacememt is fine for street driving.

yeah, the 7's provide a stiff ride,*comment about peter north in the backround* but sure arent kidney busters from the factory. you may have bad rear shocks that have frozen in the down or compressed position(stiff cumbersome ride which can jar the sunroof a bit). auto parts stores sell some softer ones. a cheap economical replacement is a kyb gr2. otherwise, go with tokico oem replacements or upgrade to the hp or blues. you can aquire them through mazdatrix.

the tokico hp's are basically an oem replacement, the illuminas are wonderful! i just put them in my car and there is a big difference in handling.

What do you have the illuminas set to? I heard HPs are like a 2 or 3 on the illumina (can't remember which, but they're in the middle somewhere)

yeah I saw that, but it sorta depends on how you read it. It never actually says that they are the stock firmness, it just says they are replacements AND that tokico is an OEM supplier for Mazda. I've heard elsewhere that they are firmer than stock. (probably on this forum)

Most aftermarket shock replacements are designed to be stiffer than oem to make up for suspension wear. The KYBs are barely an adequate replacement for oem, the HP blues are midrange of the Illumina settings.
