New rx owner

Alright now I know how the rotary works and everything and all the crap about it. But the performance mods I have on my car I bought with it I don't if they're good or not. I have a street ported 13B in a 84 rx7 gsl-se. I'm not sure if it's a 4-port or 6-port yet. Cause the girl I bought it off of never told me what car the engine came out of. It's got a dellorto intake manifold with a mikuni carburetor on it and some headers(not sure what kind though). I've upgraded the ignition coils to Accel Super Stocks. I know how good Jacobs energy coils are, and that's what were on the car, but they were old as dirt. Changed the spark plugs a week after with NGKs. It had Autolites. It has no exhaust on it. Well it has 3 resonators on it with a el cheapo midas muffler. Full racing suspension. Roll Cage custom built, 5 pt racing harnesses. Now it idles really rough. I mean I can't have it in 4th going 35. It's even hard to have it in 4th going in the 40s. I don't know what size street port or even possibly a race port. But the only thing I've been unable to find information about on the web is the Carburetor. Is Mikuni a good carb to have on an rx7 street ported? It just idles really rough I've had it tuned twice by rx7 nuts who race em for a living and it's still really bad when driving. The only way it doesn't is if I floor it or accelerate. Check the car out too and tell me what you think. www.cardomain.com/id/mazdagslse

The only rx7 racer I know of in Florida is that banana waving "nut" Carl. He's on this board, maybe he can help ya.

Looks like it has potential. Looks like a 6 port engine, but the intake is for a four port.

Definately not running 6 port actuators.

It might just have 12A end plates.

You may wanna tray calling Nick @ Rotary Reliability and Racing in Santa Ana CA. He modified mikunis for rotary and sold them back in the 80s. I have one of those original mikunis but now its in storage after I was dissatisifed on how it ran in my son's FB.

the water pump housing is a GSL-SE. look at the extra hose behind the water pump housing.

Then yes there are, there is two. I think one is for the receving one is for the return or something if that's true.

And I'm pretty sure that's a RB upper intake.

well I know that on racing beat it says it only supplies the upper intake and utilizes the lower stock intake for te dellorto manifold.

there are two. the second one is for the return line but its purpose is to regulate or to restric the gas flow back to the tank.

Ok, well I was just wondering if the return line fpr is not allowing enough fuel to return fast enough causing it to run rich which in turn is causing your stumbling/poor acceleration?

yes as it will prevent flooding and other side, lack of gas in the fuel bow.

but it has only flooded once. It runs ok but I was told the street port makes it so rough.

you can add a fuel pressure gauge. no need to buy a gauge and regulator set. just purchase the gauge and there is also a piece of hard line where the gauge can be mounted (sorry, i can remember what this is called). then just cut the soft line and attach the hoses on each end of the above item. too much
