New Molded Carpet for FB's?!

Has anybody tried the molded carpet kit from Victoria British/BlackDragonAuto.com?

It looks pretty good, and they say they are molded from the OEM floorpan.

If you've ordered one, or seen one (of the molded rugs) in person - can you let me know about the quality? Is it OEM? Better? Crappy?

I know a few of you here live within driving distance of the factory/showroom. Maybe you could give us a report?

i was actually looking at that same page this morning wondering the exact same thing. it says that there arent any pre cut holes. that kinda turned me off, thinking that i have to cut my new carpet for my seat bolts..it looks great in the pics and would sure add a nice touch to the interior of a 7. im thinking the red may be too bright. they should have a maroon. that would definatly sell.

i got some on ebay for cheap and it was molded well. they give you extra on the door trim and no holes cut. the back hatch piece fits like a glove. you can find cheaper on ebay...

I got one from ACC Mats, it has the mass back option and was pretty expensive, but it is wow quality. Mass back makes it tougher to work with a bit, but really quiets things down on the inside of the car.

I bought the VB carpet for the 300ZX, it was even the upgraded one that they didn't have for the 7s. I took it back, cheap, thin and not up to par on any quality level.

I bought a moulded set for one of the 1st gens from 1AAutomotive off eBay. Much much better. Cheaper in price too.

I got mine from JCwhitney... the mid-grade stuff they sell. Not bad... for the price. Their kit covered everything except the doors, even the piece that hangs in the back of the hatch.

I think (really I'm sure) if I knew what I was doing when I put the carpet in it would have fit better, but still fits good.

1AA Auto here as well.

I would venture to say, they are all made by the same company and sold by these many suppliers.

Anyone tried to Dye any of these replacement Carpets.
i.e from Gray to Black or Gray to Dark Brown.
I know there was a member that did his whole interior but I can't find the post.
Thanks

If you go with 1AA you can pick out any color you want from thier color charts. They have different styles and grades of carpet too. You can also buy matching roll carpet.

cutting your own carpet is easy. you cut paper in kindergarton. besides, most of it is tucked away where you cant see it.

Where did you buy your carpet from that wasnt molded and for the hatch area did you have any seams or was the carpet big enough to be one piece?

The BD kit I bought for the Z was in pieces, 5 for just the seating area. None of it was molded. For 200 buck, that was nuts. I could have gone to my local auto upholstry shop and bought roll stock for 60 and sewn it myself. Even the molded carpet I eventually bought for the Z didn't fit well and I had to cut and sew it for a better fit. Broke 3 curved carpet needles doing it.

For the money, that looks pretty good.......

If the carpet VB sells nowadays is the same that they were selling 3-4 years ago, then stay far away from it.

Its cheap, and thin.Yes it fit, but my primary goal was to change colors, not replace worn carpet. The VB stuff is not factory quality and Im not at all impressed with it.Ill probably just have a pro re-do my floorpan with some quality bulk stuff since its damn near impossible to find any factory, 1G tan interior stuff.

Look through the color charts at 1AAuto, hey may have a color close enough to your tan. They mail samples on request, pick 2-3 you think will work.

Anyone know exactly what comes with the "Rear Cargo Area" that comes with the complete carpet kits? What I mean is, the piece that hangs under the hatch, covering the tail lights and washer bag, is that included? Also does the rear piece cover around the bins? I know it doesnt come with carpet to change the bin lids. Reason I ask is I'm going to be getting new carpet within the next week, so I want to be sure about what I get. Thanks.

I'm just buying my own carpet for the hatch area, cutting it to fit, then having my GF finish the edges.
