That may get you in trouble. He will not be the one to tech your car, he will not be the one to protest you, he will not be the one to listen to your appeal and he will never stand up and say he told you it was ok. Listen carefully to the way he answers you questions - "My interpretation is......"

I've read the magazine that the SCCA puts out and they have different rules for rotaries vs. piston engines. Was there more to the exchange than what you copy-n-pasted? You didn't mention it was for a rotary application in that particular exchange...his reference to a cylinder head was most disturbing...
I did this about 15 years ago and just made them myself, it wasn't that difficult. It was temporary to test different length intakes. Then I just had the intake made the same length. Since the intake was just tubing and did not have any water channels, there was no choice but to block off the water channels. Just bolted the intake right over top of them, and no problems.
