New Injectors

Anyone know where I can pick up a set of new Injectors? its an 85 SE and I have a pretty good feeling the ones on it are just about shot.

That and, Im thinking the worst, but I think I may have rust in my gas tank, but I dont have a way to check it since the only place for me to work on it, requires me driving through a ditch to the back of my house to get to the garage . Anyone know of any ninja ways of checking? maybe like stuffing a clear fuel filter in somewhere?

Disconnect the fuel lines after the fuel pump and put a rubber hose on the the outlet of the fuel pump. Run the hose into a bucket or large coffee can and see what you get when you turn the key on, and turn it over. Remember you won't get any fuel unless the motor is spinning.

Ok, Thanks. If I have rust in the tank, does anyone happen to know where to pick up a new one? I'm almost 100% positive it does, as the filler cap has a few little spots. Either that or its just minerals and things that evaporate out of the gas, but I can't really tell, it looks like late stage rust.

you might want to try a cleaner. It was posted in one of these threads before about a product that kicks major butt in cleaning out rusty gas tanks.

You could get a glass reuildable filter. They sell puralator ones here but they don't flow that well, though they do a good job of getting the rust. You will know very quickly if there is rust in there or not. Dropping the tank is the only real way to tell how bad it is, though.
It's not as bad as you think.

BTW, you can check ebay for new injectors, but you may be able to have the old ones cleaned. A local shop here does it for $25 or $35.. don't remember

new injectors are freakin expensive. The cheapest I could find them was at pep boys for $220 a pice.

Someone showed me where to get some remans from for $56 a pice. I got those. I couldnt tell you if they are any good or not because my car does not run.

The injectors I got had all the peices and looked to be in much better shape than the ones on the car.

Take a look at www.autopartsgiant.com.
They have Crown remans (P/N 65-3218) for 28.45+10.00 core
or
Python remans (P/N 627-089) for 40.15+12 core.

I installed a set of the Pythons and it solved my flooding problem.
One problem down 448,928 to go.

Anyone know if Python is a good brand? Or Crown, either one.

The Crown Remans are like 29
and the Python ones are 41

I'd like to pick up a new set after I get around to checking my gas tank for rust. That was a long time ago when I posted that, and still haven't done it.

Unfortunately i'm having some other problems with the car, It seems like it's not getting enough fuel flow or something, because sometimes when i give it gas it kind of stutters and then it will stop once the RPMs raise to about 4500-5000 RPM, but it's not horrible, its just annoying, the car is still completely driveable, just gets on my nerves to feel that.

why in the heck would you buy new injectors when you can get rc enginering to test, clean, then retest and flow and show you the results for only $24 for each one. That way you know what they run and what kinda shape they are in.....just my advice
