new help with flasher CPU connectors, for an 84

Hi,

My old flasher CPU was completely dead so of course I bought
a new one. well everything seemed right until I noticed that the second (smaller) wire connector coming for the CPU has one (black) wire, instead of what my old one has which is one black and one plane green wire. I looked at the wiring diagram and all I can figure is that the black wire is for the flasher timers ground.

So the question.... dose anyone know if I can just ground the new unit and be fine
or will I have to go buy another one.

The only other think I saw different it that the unit I had has a white "D" and the new one has a "B" in white. Do I need a "D" ?

Thanks, JR

no help?

maybe a pic will help?

I have looked though the whole wire diagram section with no luck.

only think I found with the same colors are the conectors
right next to the headlight motors.

are there diffrent models? I saw the 79-83 had a 2 connector also.

Guess all try tracking it tomorrow.
Then send it off to be swaped.

To help you out, I encountered the same problem. That black wire is not for grounding. Leave it as is. I forget what it's for but I have found out what it is. Give me a few minutes to get you the answer.

EDIT: The (B) is for the door handle switch and the (T) is for the Seat belt warning light. Amazingly, tho, when I looked up in the dash to see if there was any connector left out for that wire, there wasn't. It, too, made me wonder but figured that my car was already working fine, so I left it as is. Also, the one I have is the top one in your picture. Hope that helps.

Use this link, this is how I found the answer. Go to page 12.
