New to this great forum and have 3 Questions...
Hi group,
New to the forum, but not to rx-7's. I am finally getting around to fixing some minor issues with my 79 Rx-7 GS.
The first question pertains to the factory radio. When a cassette is inserted, instead of playing it it keeps flipping sides until the tape is ejected.
Second, the headlight on the pass side will not lock when raised. So it will wink at oncoming traffic until I manual get out and lift up on it.
Lastly, but probaly most important. I just had a clutch installed 1500mi ago. Now I get a click or two when pushing in the clutch. I have determined that the click is coming from the slave cylinder linkage being sloppy. It didnt make the noise until recently. Along with that there is bearing noise when depressing the clutch. Is the slave just toast (w/43k orig mi ) or is the problem inside the bellhousing?
Thats all for now.
Thanks for any advice and its good to be here.

factory stereo i donno much about.
headlight, get some eletric contact cleaner and unplug the motor and soak the headlight motor, then regrease the gears
clutch, the problem is the through out bearing. the click click is the bearing pushing together. my car did the samething. have fun with that.
happy wrenching.

Re: headlamp-
check to make sure the 2 rods that actually lift the light assy are in good shape. These are connected to the motor and its mounting frame. They each have a nylon lock collar at each end that eventually fails. They cannot be fixed, so you need to replace either or both rods - about $25 i believe. The new ones just push on over the socket heads on the motor assy. BUT you must lube these with grease!
Clutch noise-
yeah, sounds like the throw-out bearing. hopefully not the pilot bearing in the rear of the motor, or front bearing in the tranny. Any of these require the Tranny to be pulled
Cassette-
simple old decks, but it would take a stereo repair shop to diagnose. If somethings broken it would be tough to get parts. Undoubtably the repair would cost more than the deck is worth, but I held on to mine too, since it was a factory-original accessory, which is kind cool. Just ended up leaving it in for looks and hooked up my iPod.
enjoy your SA

I got a factory stereo that plays tapes that you can have if you go sign up at Ohio Rotaries. http://www.ohiorotaries.com
