I just installed one set so far on the driver side, it was a little difficult to slide the caliper back over the outer pad, but the piston side has pleanty of clearance. The rotor turns but I have to use a little force (without rim and tire installed). Should I drive it around till it wears the pad down a little or get different pads?

Grease up the caliper slide pin. The caliper should be floating inboard/outboard freely.

Thats why this forum is great. The a-holes in some of the MySpace RX7 clubs are complete a_ _holes all they can do is insult & argue gave some of those clubs up just cause this is a real group. Thanks guys for being real Rotor Heads man

 

Glad you found the problem. For future reference, you should be able to slide calipers back and forth quite easily with the pads out. That applies to pretty much any brake calipers.

 

you know, I was truely amazed just how easy it was to change the pads... one bolt on the bottom and the caliper just pivots upward so you can pop the old ones out and in with the new.

 

Last time I did my front brakes, the pins were corroded right into the caliper. I had to spin them for like 15 minutes with an air ratchet before we were able to hammer them out. Replacement pins were tough to find, but Napa found that they had two sets left and ordered them up from a warehouse in some other state. Definitely make sure you lube them with some high quality grease before reassembly.
