If it is a stock 83 gsl not the se then you have a 12a motor with 4wdisk brakes and a limited slip rear.

If your dad gets a 79 parts car - most body parts wont interchange. Have to get a 81-85 to mix parts off of. Some of the engine stuff may work but not sure about transmission/rear anything else.

Good luck

before you do that, you gotta stop...think...and focus on the most important thing you need to learn/do with the car. im guessing the brake line, and getting the motor running should be your concerns right now.

don't worry about what color you are going to paint it, what body kit you are going to make for it, how big you want your hood scoop to be, and neons that flash when you hit your brakes. there is alot to learn, and the only way to do it properly is to go slowly.

use the search function here on the website, and read read read read. good luck with the car! i live next city over in welland.

congratulations on the buy!

the brake lines are easy to fix.. this time of year I think I'd worry more aobut finishing the garage first!

I'd honestly start by checking the floors and storage bin areas out. they can rust and it's much easier to fix sooner rather than later.
as far as the engine goes, have your dad (or you, whatever) hold the gas pedal to the floor while you pour some diesel fuel down the carb (yes diesel fuel, down the carb). you have to take off the lid on the blue air cleaner under the hood before you can do this.

and then forget about the engine for a while, just let it sit for several days or longer. note that regardless of what you do the engine is going to smoke a WHOLE LOT for several minutes when you first start it up, You might even want to notify the fire department that this will happen so they don't send fire trucks out to your house thinking that your garage is on fire (this has happened to me). Don't worry about the smoke, it will clear up and after you start driving the car it will go away and not do that again.

Be glad you have a 1st gen, this is by far the best forum on all of rx7club.

Since you're only 15, you have a long time before you have to worry about anything...

the garage is omost done we need to do is wait for the door guy and we need to put up the lights than we are done and maybe put a wood stove in for now. the first thing me and my dad are going to is get the motor running and fix the brake line. than me and my dad are going to strip the car down keep all the stuff under nath and sand blast the car to take off all the rust than repaint the car blue like the inside to make it look like the car was never gold. make all new steats and carpit with a cd player with new speakers maybe a 444amp new rims and all the other stuff. but the my dad wast to get it running and take all the rust off. and how do you fix a hand brake?
