New Door Seals Every 25 Years

I just replaced my original 25 year old door seal weatherstripping with replacement parts from Black Dragon. I knew they were getting brittle, but they were in really bad shape when compared to the nice, squishy new parts.

The doors close with a nice, confident "click" with more force than I ever remember having to use. They open with a really nice "click" too. Very expensive feeling!

Replacement is easy. Tear off the old seals. Pull out the plastic snaps (I used a set of wire clippers wrapped in tape and just pulled them out), and slide/snap in the new ones.

If yours are looking ratty, I highly recommend replacement.

I'm going to need to redo my weatherstripping and everything too. These things get to be in really bad shape after all this time.

Stop jacking off and get those things installed you slacker.

To keep those new you need to occasionally use some protectant/lubricant,

It took me about 20 minutes. With shipping it's about $90 from Black Dragon.

Mine were well treated, but 25 years is a long time.

Replace the rear hatch seal, too, to avoid exhaust fumes in the cockpit. I found it necessary to replace taillight seals, too. Mazdatrix has OEM seals, which are a little softer and easier to breakin.

Biffle's right - just doing the door seals is a half-measure:
get the s/r and hatch seals done to while you can still get new parts!
likewise the taillights - lot of water gets in thru there to the rear lower fenders at the car wash otherwise!!
And one area you might not think of:
tranny boots - there are 3 of them (!) and they will be due for a change

I bought the one from 1AAuto , and they are crap, they're not the right width at all i get snow inside the car from them, and one side was actually longer than the other so it has slack on the driver side where the bend is by the body. very dissapointed with their parts

That's odd Sam. I bought mine from the same place and have no issues with them. If the snow is coming in at the top, or around the window frame, that part could be bent. I've had to rebend a couple of window frames due to them being off from years of former owners not closing the doors properly.

new seals are a blessing! you'd be suprised how much quieter the ride is. really reduces wind noise the hatch and sunroof seal are a snap to replace, as are the tail light seals. you'll really notice a difference!!!

amen! that's been my experience and i haven't even replaced all of mine yet. i replaced the seal around the driver's door and it made a HUGE difference in wind noise and insulation. i can't wiat until i can get the rest of the seals for the passenger door and both windows.

Its not just the top, you can basically look all around it, and it both doors, and that still does not explain for the slack ...

I've not heard of 1AAuto. The Black Dragon parts are as good as original.
