New door pods (pics)

I picked up a new set of Elemental Design 6000 series components. All I have to say is awesome!! From the packaging to the product itself, it's all to notch.

I went from Alpine 5 1/4's in my door pods to these and all I can say is wow.

The mounting depth is the only draw back I would say on these at 3". I had to make new door pods to fit these, but hey would'nt want a new fiberglass project!
Heres a pic of the final product:

The pods are kind of large, but my doors cannot accomodate any speakers, so cutting into it was not an option. Listening to them was at first strange especially coming from coaxle's to components. My staging is up high and tight. There was some scratching type noise for the first 5 minutes of playing, but that soon went away. I was ablt to lower the x-over point on the amp because these things can take a little more space then those tiny Alpine. I have to say I'm an Elemental Design fan now!!!

Dude! That's a pretty clean ride you got there. Not a big fan of those setups myself, but the work you have done is impressive. Real nice!

I'm not sure if I care for how far the pods intrude into the leg space, but damn, you do absolutely top notch work when it comes to fit and finish. Outstanding work, keep it up.

Oh, if I had manual windows I would have cut into the door and flushed these bad boys. These things are beast's and sit 3" deep, so the pods are kind of big, but my god they sound awesome.

Damn you always seem to beat ur old system by triple. First the sub now the pods.

You might as well mount two turn-tables and call it a mobile club!! Good work though. Looks insanley clean. I hope one day my quality can rival yours.

Thanks guys. Well after a little ride ysterday, I'm going to redesign the pods. The do stick out a little to much and it makes it unfomfortable to drive. They are set on an angle, which takes space, I'm also going to cut into the door cover. With these improvments I should be able to get them 1 1/2" farther back.

Thats good to hear, I was lookin at those too. I have 4 of their Eu-700 subs and a NINe.2 amp just ITCHIN to go into my car. But I haven't quite figured out what configuration I wanted to do.

a while ago ED was selling components that they partnered with CDT to make. I don't know what they outcome was or how well they sounded, but i imagine their components are now better than what CDT made for them. AND cheaper.
