So, now I'm in the market for a stronger, faster engine. I'm thinking something from a third gen...but I'm open to sugestions.

Can anyone enlighten me?

Depends if your going to run a Turbo setup or not.
12A Turbo`s arent really worth the effort, and not that available.13 B turbo engines are loads of fun,but the mods doesnt just end with fitting the engine, engine management would also be needed.

12A`s rev higher easier, seeing that the rotors weigh less than the 13B.13B developes more hp easier, and can be ported more than the 12A,while still retaining reasonable driveablility, because of the extra torque with the increased size.

How much do you want to spend ?

well, a turbo 12a done right can have niiice benefits. i don't mean the jspec 12aT, get a streetported 12a and slap a blow-thru turbo on it. it'll ROCK! if you do a 13b you can just slap a big weber on it and not worry about the fuel injection! either or will be niiiiiiiiice!

depends on what you want to spend, and what you plan on using the car for...
if you have deep pockets, this could be fun!

I would say 13b extend streetported, turbo 2 housings, lightweight rotors, and a nice big turbo.

should do the trick

on the less then millions budget just go for a 12a extend streetported with racingbeat exhaust and a del-orto "or your choice" carb

no engine management control units, no swapping parts to make it fit, no worry of detonation, and ALOT cheaper then the setup mentioned above

heh

Well, here's what I've got. I'm moving to California in the summer, I'm making a wopping 1100 a month (so, I have like..600-700 after taxes.) and I want to have the car running by the beginning of summer. I can prolly score some extra cash on the side...but I don't know how much

The other thing is, she's in for a road trip...and then a summer of driving in a hotter, dryer climate. I'm looking for an engine configuration that borders on reliable :p

Go for a good n/a setup, seeing that a turbo one would cost lots more.Sounds like your on a tight budget ?
