New 1st Gen. I need help plz.

Well, first of all i have the 85' CP. It's carbureted. I need a little bit of wrench-help. I just had the clutch replaced and ever since, it's been puttering while idling, backfiring every time i rev down, and it doesn't feel like i am getting the punch that i used to. It even kills right in the middle of driving for about 10 min. before starting right back up. It has been doing that almost every time i drive it. I thought it was a problem with the spark plugs so i just put some spanking new NGKs in and it's still doing the same thing. I checked the vaccuum lines and it all looks good. If any of you rotary savvy gurus can lend me a hand i would greatly appreciate it.

Check your leading ignition and if you have it, verify your timing is not retarded.

I had a similar problem, what you do is dump a can of seafoam in your tank and get a can of carb cleaner and spray it down the carb while the engine is idling. This may sound simple, but I had the exect same problem as you, only my cats glowed red on top of the described symtoms, and it fixed it like magic.

good luck
