New 1980 Rx7 Reserection
Hey I'm new to this site, I've had my car for about a month.
1980 RX7, I've fallen in LOVE.
I've read these threads, and archives for like 5hrs a night, for the past 2 weeks.
This is pretty much what i've learned is ESSENTIAL.
-Decarbanize with SeaFoam
-Replace Fuel Filter, Oil Filter.
-Drain all Fluids, Tranny, Gas, Brake, Oil etc. and replace.
-Change most of your wiring.
-Chang Fan from Mechinical to Electronic
-Purchase new Tires.
-Clean out the engine cab
-Scrape muck from under the carpet (20lbs weight difference) APPARENTLY.
-Replace Hoses, and Soft parts such as pulleys.
-Purchase NGK plugs.
-New Fuel pump, Water pump.
-Lube window wiper motor, etc.
-Replace the wire to your lights, for a bigger gauge for maxium light potential.
-Check ALL fuses.
That's just to make sure everythings running in tip top condition.
as for mods:
-Holley High Perfomance Intake System
-Streetable Header
-Tokico Struts
-Installation of a turbo.
Hopefully a dramatic HP gain.
I want 200+ approx.
BODY MODS/INTERIOR MODS.
-Type m-1 Speed Body Kit
-Spyder 2 Hood Scoop
-Lowered at least 1inch
-Purchase a Carbon Fiber rear wing.
-New Sparco Interior, Seats, Clutch ****, E-Brake, Shift boot, Steering wheel etc.
- Alpine Stereo System, Subs, Speakers, Amps.
That's all I can think of,
but I hope to Accomplish all this by the end of 07.
any input? Comments? HELP? =)
I'll keep everybody posted, and i'll share pics with everybody with every mod.

I got the car with no emblems. LOL!!!

What source do you plan to use for your wiring? I'm redoing most of the same things on my 85se and this is my first restore. The wiring stands out as the hardest thing to come by because I just have no idea where to start. Luckily, I'm not at that point yet. One wierd thing about the wiring in my engine bay, there seems to be quite a few connectors just dangling. The car works perfectly normal so I assume these connectors are for various diagnostics but it seems odd.

Yoo,
My rats nest is gone.
I do believe, I'm really not sure what that is.
is there a pic or something I could view?
Yeah the wiring is so complicated, my car runs fine with its stock wiring,
but 20yrs of just wire, somethings bound to go wrong soon.
keep up the posts.

OBEY YOUR MAZDA
You a Newb.
You searched the Archives and the FAQ.
Use of the word "Thanks" without an attitude.
Any chance You are a steamingly hot chick too?
Ha ha You are a prime example on how n00b's should be Now go tell the other Newbies how it's done.

It is possible to make about 200 HP with a turbo on a stockport with about 9lbs of boost. Any more than 11lbs though will kill the engine QUICK. Check out bad 83's setup.
Extra things for your list:
upgrading the alternator to support that sound system (2nd gen swap)
upgrading your ignition
fuel pressure regulator for that new fuel pump
GSL rear end, FB front strut assembly/brake system - might as well do the complete swap if you're already doing the rear, gives more front suspension options
That's about all the additional upgrades I can think of myself. Many people here are bigger fans of Webers/Delloritos than Holleys. Another thing to keep in mind: if you just replace the thermal reactor with a header, and leave the rest of the exhaust unchanged, your car will sound very ricey. Not too loud, but not a desireable pitch. I'm running it that way right now until I can afford something better because my thermal reactor was mutilated. If your thermal reactor has no problems, hold off until you can get the complete exhaust. Good luck!
