needs specs before i buy gauges

its been a while since id drove a 7 so i need some help on some numbers.

here are the gauges im looking to buy and their specs:

oil temp-----0 to 140 or *140 to 280*??
oil pressure---*0 to 100* or 0-200psi
water temp---60 to 210, *100 to 250*, 140 to 280, or 120 to 240??
air/fuel---N/A
voltometer----8 to 18 volts
pyrometer-----0 to 1600
fuel pressure---(need to find an accurate one first)

im just not 100% sure what i will need the gauges to read. the ones with the (*) around them are the ones im guessing ill need. i will be increasing my oil pressure by using a hammer to stiffen the spring. i dont think itll ever get over 100psi, but do i need the 0-200psi gauge? the water temp gauge will be installed in the back of thewater pump housing and im not sure what thermostat i will use. is there a better place i can install the water temp gauge? also, for the pyrometer, is 1600 high enough? i think i remember reading 1800 was the desired temp. i know it will all depend on where it is mounted. where is the best place to mount the pyrometer?

all gauges are autometer pro-comp series and 2 5/8". they are all different kinds; liquid filled mechanial, full sweep electric, and short sweep electric

1. Don't buy autometer. We've already had a thread about this recently that's in the archive when I was looking for gauges. Equus is the way to go. Cheaper, just as accurate, nice looking.

2. I'm going for Water Temp, Oil Temp and Oil Pressure. 0-200psi on the Oil Pressure, 140-280 I think on the Oil Temp (I don't know fahrenheit very well...), 100-250 looks good for the water temp.

I'm not mounting a fuel pressure gauge in the car. I'm getting an accurate one that I'll "T" into the fuel send line when I'm tuning, and remove when not tuning

EGT I'm not using, though I eventually plan to get a wideband.

Volts? Stock is good enough. I don't need an accurate reading, just "close enough" is good for me.

meh, autometer used to have some issues with calibration with boost gauges, but all the ones ive installed on other peoples cars or used myself work just fine. return them if they arent correct.

Pyrometer needs to be 1800+. The 2-1/8" gauges fit 3 across in the console and most pillar pods.

Yeah, I'm not saying there's any problem with the autometer gauges.... but Equus are a bit cheaper and from what I've heard just as accurate... I was going to go with Autometer myself until wacky convinced me otherwise.

Jon

are the electrical fuel pressure gauges that use a sender not as accurate or something?

do you mean 2 1/16 or 2 5/8? im starting to think im going to have to go with a different series due to the fact pro comp is only offered in 2 5/8 and im afraid thatll be too big.

The 2-1/16 ones fit in guage pods and 3 across on the console. The larger ones won't.

I take it you bought it? Other than being the larger size, it should work.
