Needing some ideas, parked for years.
1983 12a, 204,000 miles, Standard, Rats nest gone.
Needing some ideas, I've printed a book from the archives.
Currently has no underside fuel tank. I have a 2 1/2 gallon tank in the rear hatch for fuel tank. The cars inspection sticker expired in 2004, so I assume its been sitting for about 8 years. She's ran about 5 gallons in the driveway. I'm afraid to run anymore due to some major air/fuel problems. Fuel lines have been sprayed and cleared. The carb has been rebuilt, i'm fearing some of the linkages may be out of adjustment.
I haven't put the timing light or the fuel pressure gauge on yet. That'll be tomorrow. Compression is good.
She was running rich/flooding when I first started. I put some Oil down the carb and ran a few rotations with the spark plugs out. After warming up I added some seafoam and attempted to clear out some carbon. Not alot but enough to make a little smoke. She died and I cranked it back up. After burning everything out it went from running rich to running lean. 2 tablespoons were used in the fuel tank for the jets.
She will not Idle anymore. Very hard to start.
I can hold my foot on the gas and spray a few puffs of starter fluid into the carb and the idle will smooth out to a nice even idle. As soon as it burns that little bit it goes right back to lean.
Any ideas would help. It's been about 5 years since I've worked on a rotary engine. I've honestly missed it, I'm amazed at the amount that's been added to the archive. Any help will be appreciated. I will post a video tomorrow.
I forgot to add that the motor has been rebuilt about 20,000 miles ago. That's not saying much about a car thats been sitting for years however..
