if you do fuel only you can make a little adapter to make the haltech (or whatever ecu) plug right into the gsl-se harness, and then you don't have to change anything under the hood if you don't want to

i'm not sure about removing the dash, if the car was a gsl-se to start with then no, but if its a 12a to gsl-se ecu i think yes.

whats going on?

the timing on the spark plugs is different from s4 to s5 so if one rotor housing is from a different year, you are not going to have a good time trying to get the timing where you want it. will always be a couple degree off between the two.
