Suitable alternative? Ever tried the GM HEI ignitors which can be found in any any auto parts store? They accomplish the same thing in a different way. The wire hookups are similar.

I've never actually done one before, but they are a viable alternative to the increasingly rare J-190 (I think). I need to get one and try it out to be sure. Or you could be the guinea pig.

Gimmie a year, make, and model of car that would be an example so I can order through my shop and get discounts, and I'll try it. I'm starting with a dead ignitor anyhow... What should I expect to pay for two if I got them from any regular parts store?

I've seen people sling them around here for less than $10 a piece plus shipping... What price are you asking for some?

I think a '79 Buick 'something' had them stock. I don't know which years and models they were available off the top of my head. Somebody else ought to know.
