Need Some Opinions and Info On These Seats!

Hey Fellas,

Just wanted to get everyone's opinion a link to a really cool auction that I found. I think this is a pretty darn good price for these and I am heavily considering making a purchase. I think they would look absolutely unbelievable in the Rx-7 after I paint it white, plus they come with the free nifty red belts, which are also very eyecatching. I know that they are Corbeaus or Sparcos, but I'm not looking to drop that kind of money. I just want something clean and comfortable that's not all broken down. Besides, they have to be more comfortable than the torn up 19 yr. old pieces of crap my 7 currently boasts for its passengers.

I'd like to know what everyone thinks of the seats appearance wise, and in particular I'd like to know if I would have any problems with the seats being too big. The dimensions are listed in the item description of the auction. I want to make sure they will fit in the Rex if I get 'em. Also, would I have any trouble installing them? I have a flux core wire welder and my old seats so I don't see any reason why I couldn't make up some brackets. If you already have racing seats please share how you have installed yours and what the dimensions are if possible.

HERE IS THE LINK TO THE AUCTION!

Finally, please look at the guy's feedback also and tell me if you think he is someone that I should be wary of for a purchase of this size. His prices are lower than anyone else online and the seats are exactly what I'm wanting to get. I'm just not very trusting with ebay anymore because I've had a couple of bad deals. I don't want to lose this kind of money on a purchase that I probably shouldn't be making anyway. Lemme know what you think! Hope to hear from everyone! Thanks guys!

Jamie

i think the difference between 23" deep and 35" tall compared to stock is the headroom you'll have, if you're worried about it. The bottom sides seem pretty tall though other than that it looks good.
Oh yeah and don't mount the top straps of the seat belt lower than a 20* angle or you might compress you're spine in an accident (aka: kill yourself)

I'm 6'3" tall and about 190 lbs. Most of my height is in my legs so I'm okay in the 7 with the seat all the way back and reclined a little. On occasion my head does come close to the ceiling though. Can anyone get dimensions on a stock seat for me?? Mine are tucked away in storage because I'm getting ready to paint the 7.

*edit*
Yeah, if I get them I'll be careful when installing the harnesses. I've seen some examples on the forum of how to install them and how not to install them. I believe somewhere Directfreak gave some excellent info on this topic if I'm not mistaken.

I'd personally take these over those.

Yeah I saw those, except after shipping and everything I'm looking at about $300. I can get the others with harnesses for a little over $200.

What does everyone think about the quality of the seats I posted? Do you think that they would fall apart quickly? They aren't going to see a whole lot of use because the 7 is just my fun car, but I still don't want the seats to be made of cheese cloth.

I think that they would look really good in a red car. What color are you painting your fb?

I'm still sorta up in the air about what color to paint it. I think right now I"m gonna do it white. The first mazda I ever owned was I white 91 Protegé, and I ultimately owe my love for Mazdas to that one car. I loved that car with everything I had. I'm going to do the 7 some color of white as tribute to the Protege I believe. I've also considered red, but I feel like red is a cop out because almost every sports car on the planet is red. I am a firm believer that white on a japanese sports car is the equivalent of having a "cherry red corvette." For some reason many special limited edition Japanese cars, be it Mazda, Honda, Toyota, whatever, come out exclusively in white. Or at least that is what I have noticed. Take for instance the Integra type R, which came in yellow and white only from the factory. (If I"m not mistaken....)

Sorry for the rant... Let me summarize. Thought about red. I"ll prolly paint it white. I liked my other Mazda lots.

No problem, my first mazda was white too. It was an '82 RX-7. I still, and probably always will, regret selling that car. Anyways, i was suggesting red because of the color of the seatbelts.
