OK, after 2 weeks I finally got to work on the car. Replaced fuel filter, cleaned carb...etc. After 5 minutes of turning the engine over, it starts! Enough smoke pours out to alert the neighbors! Typical, I know. Anyway, after the smoke clears I notice the car isnt running right. Sounds and feels like only 2 plugs are firing and the exhaust pipe (by the cat.) starts to glow cherry red! I turn the car off and remove the plugs. They are bad. 2 are oil fouled and two are burnt. So, when I go to the auto parts store, what else do you suggest I buy? Rotor, dist. cap, wires? Also could something else be causing this problem? I really miss driving this car. Thanks.

 

How much $$$$$ are you willing to spend?

How’s the cap and rotor look? Have you put a meter on your spark plug wires, and the wires to the coils to see if they are toast?
