Need some help

Ok so i'm driving down the road yesterday morning and this morning and the car shuts off @ 70mph. What? no way can't be happening. so i get it going again drive on in to work and it happens again. well i thought to my self could just be out of gas and the gage isn't working correctly, being new car and all finding out limits. Pulled off the Hwy and got some gas. Jumped back on the hwy and everything was fine. Drove home fine yesterday evening.

Well today all was good until i got close to work. It shut off on me again. i take it out of gear and push the gas and it fires back up and runs smooth. put it back in gear and it bogs back down and turns off ... repeat... pull off run it at about 3k rpm for about 1 min and then start off again... runs fine for about 3 miles... then happens again.

We have had cool mornings the past 2 days in ATL with high humity. someone told me that it could be that the carb is freezing... compressing the cold air and when it is releacing it in to the ports or what ever that is is causing ice with the high humity and the cool air .... kinda like a can of compressed air.

Is this possible and if so is there a fix for it.. should i let it warm up more before driving it... i normaly in the mornings let it is with the choke half way out until it starts idling smoothly. I know that there is a air hose from the exaust that feeds warm air into the carb... maybe to prevent this from happening. Please let me know if this is true because i half *** trust the sorce right now.

Check that your choke is shutting off when the car heats up, then check your spark plugs aren't fouled, time for a new set of Denso's?

I'm not sure. I don't know enough about cars to say for sure. Been trying to find someone to learn this car from in the ATL area... but no luck yet... so anything that i do is a shot in the dark. Was hoping yall could narrow down something for me. But planned on checking the sparkplugs when i got home... just seems weird that it runs in the afternoon.

i dont think its very likely that the carb is icing over. the mani has coolant running thru it to warm the carb. next time it happens pull the lid off of the air cleaner, look at he carb and work the linkage to see if its squirting fuel. you might have a pump going out or a clogged filter. have you done a full tune-up on the car latley?

no i have not done a tune up... but just had the car about a week now. so will check plugs and things when i get home. the air filter looks new... so if that was changed most people don't change that until last at least those that don't take care of there cars.. people that do do it all at once. so will have to pull plugs tonight when i get home. Make sure i put a flash light in the car tonight if it happens again tomorrow.

Check your battery cables, make sure that they are clean, corrosion free, and tight at both the battery and the starter. Also check for any loose wires around the coils, alternator, distributor. That's where I'd start.

Thx for the help everyone... got it back up and running fine again. It was the fuel filter. 3$ from napa got the gold one... retails around 10$ or so... but i work for a tire place and got it for 3$ wootage.

and the last day before i changed it... it took me 1 hour to get to work from the normal 30min drive. That last day before it changed i pulled off the road every 2 or 3 miles to let the car settle back down. Start it back up and take off. did not matter if i gunned it or took it easy.. it would still shut off... 90mph then coast to 50...helped so that i could stay on the hwy a bit longer... amazing what you do to keep a car going when you want to get some where.

NOW!!! now that the 7 is purring like a kitten getting its *** scrached. I'm loving my new old 7. now to just get the oilpan gasket replaced and i wil stop leaking the oil that i so much need in the car instead of on the assfault.

Thx agian everyone.
