Need some help

I have a 1985 1st gen gs i have had some problems with it starting and when i get it started some times it acts like the accelerator is suck and after a few it comes back down from 7k Rpms and it makes a back fire sound so i thought that i should change the fule fillter, add some two stroke oil in to the tunk, and put some fule system cleaner in it so if some one can tell if this is a good move or not it would help.

are you getting the high rpms while the choke is pulled out? If so, have you tried pushing it back in to adjust the rpms?

If this is happening without the clutch, then start looking for a vacuum leak...
