Thumbs up Need some help!

Hey guys, this is my first post on your forum ... I'm straying from my usual VW/Audi forums.

Anywho, here's why I've joined you ...

Just over a year ago I aquired a 1978 (not '79) Savanna RX-7 2+2. This is a Japanese model and of course is right-hand-drive. It's maroon in color with maroon/brown interoir and two-tone maroon and orange plad seats. Odometer shows 11,488km. Wheels are factory Advan, 12A motor, fender mounted mirrors, in windshield antenna, no sunroof, etc. I drove the car for a few months and eventually parked it at the end of last summer. This car is incredibaly solid (and I've delt with some old VW's). It does however have rust in the rear body panels behind the rear tyres, along the botttoms of the doors (which are being replaced) and a few other small spots on the body (nothing serious). However, the underneath is shockingly in excellent condition! Anyway, just wondering if I have something special here (obviously it's unique) or is it not that big of a deal? I figured if anyone could tell me it's someone here. I've also been doing RX-7 research and collecting parts from various GSL-SE's to do conversions. I would really like to race this car in a touring class, or at least hit the autocross every now and then. (I do currently race an Audi A4 Quattro in USTCC). However, I don't want to hack-up something of importance. In the end I may just restore the car for shows and personal enjoyment instead. I greatly appreciate any assistance you guys can offer. Thank you. Take care.

*Also, I have previously owned a '90 Turbo II and have always shared an interest in RX-7's*

I'd personally like to tell you if you do anything to dismantle or destroy that car i will personally comefind you and be very very rude to you!!! Nice find expecially in the US!!! I hate you and want your car more than anything else right now!! actually working on trying to find a righthand drive rx7 through a local importer, but its prolly gonna cost me 2-3 times the value of the car.... you're a very lucky man and don't hurt that car. sell it to me

edit:
Also if you don't get some pics of that one up soon i just might cry!!

Ditto-
Pat-
Series one (78-80) RX7s that have been unmolested are rare enough (I live in Alaska and had to get mine in San Diego), and those without rust: rarer again...and JDM Savannahs??? virtually unheard of! You have one rare car and its value will decrease _dramatically_ if you start moding it up or beating it up on the track. Please keep it as stock as you can and please post some pics, including interiors!!
Thanks - you lucky DAWG!

Sweet, thanks for the feedback guys ... I'll try to get some picks up in the next few days. I've been so busy with work and school lately, it's crazy. It sounds like a basic restoration may be the best route. Pics coming. Thanks. Take care.
