Need just a little 'thump' from the stereo!
Ok, I just installed my aftermarket stereo (right now its just crammed in the hole anxiously awaiting the soon-to-be-world-famous Manntis radio/cupholder invention).
Anyway, put two jensen two-ways (6 1/2) in the back, stock 4's left in front. Nice highs & mid, but no bass whatsoever! Now, I'm not my jungle-thump loving 15 year old, but I would like a little 'kick' with my Styx, Journey, & Boston tunes. What can I do to help this on the cheap? Ideas?

Alright, thats funny, you have the same speaker setup that i have. I wasn't satisfied, so i went to miejer and bought a set of "thump" 8" speakers in boxes with tweeters, and bought a $60 sony amp from walmart. Total cost was about $100. Wired it in, put the boxes in the storage bins behind the seats and it works out nicely.

he will get the job done right,
heres my setup
i didnt want alot of bass eihter,
and it had to be totally stealth with minimal weight.
the 8" are not in boxes
there hidden in the rear,by the taillights, but hooked up free air
anyway i was gonna go pyramid "dont laugh,it would rival any of your systems costing 5 times as much"
but when i spoke to my rep he said he has a big legacy promo going on and could get all my stuff at around 75% what the pyramid setup would cost me.
so here it is,
i can get he model numbers for you if you wish.
stock headunit "remeber stealth and stock are the keywords"
legacy 4" 3-way front 200 watt max 40oz magnet
legacy 5.25" 3-way rear 200 watt max 40oz magnet
legacy 8" subs 600 watt max per speaker 55oz magnet
legacy 600 watt digital amp for subs only
8 agu amp wire kit
everything cost me $115.00
and i will take on anyone with the same size speakers that spent up to $600.00 for the same size stuff
btw im mecp certified and im currently working on a car audio installation, advanced fabrication, advanced configuration masters degree from II

They are all sold, but if you find one, I will still install it for you,,,
Infinity speakers kick ***. They have some real thump to them. My dads got some in his B Pillars on his -SE, and you can litterly feel the bass from Pink Floyd and the Eagles and anything with a good kick drum in it. Its great. Im putting Infinitys all around in my car just because of those two 6.5". He also has an Alpine head unit and no amps. The Infinitys basically never distort, even at full volume. Anyway, just letting you all know.

Ive done that with 6X9's a shitload of time, but with the question in my head as to why? Theres a space in the rear that you can cut just about anything you want into and it starts with a 6 1/2 hole already.

Well, I still dont know, lol. It does however, have better imaging (I think, but then again, what do I know) than the stock locations. When Im driving, I can barly hear the drivers side rear speaker in the 85 GSL, but when I drive his car and listen to the same song, its WAY different. Its like a whole different setup. I can actually hear stuff coming from one side and moving to the other (the helicopter in Pink Floyd for example
) whereas in the GSL with the stock location speakers, it just sounds muffled, and then all of a sudden I can hear it on the passenger side. I was thinking of putting my speakers here myself, but it just takes too much work, plus my sub box gets in the way...

PS - It may just be a difference in speakers though...Kenwood 6.5" in the back of the GSL, Infinity Reference 6.5" in the back of the -SE, so maybe its comparing apples to oranges...Plus the Infinitys have the tweeters rotated for better imaging too...
