Need info about how-to rebuild 12A

I tryed searching, but nothing good came out of it.

I saw a rebuild video, but it's for a 13b.
I did find a service manual online, but it only showed the parts and not how to do a rebuild in steps.

Were can I get a step-2-step manual for a rebuild? With pics, coz I'm kinda a noob with cars.

i have the haynes manual and it is pretty good. The only thing i dont' like is that i have the 13b engine and the book is really for the 12a. But it goes step by step through every thing you need to know.

And another thing is that the haynes manual can be picked up at pretty much any auto parts store

dude, the concepts and steps for building 12A's and 13B's are generally the same. build SLOWLY and CAREFULLY from front to rear. in my opinion, your only real concern is if you're building one of the newer 13B's and have to worry about the 3-piece apex seals ... everything else is either the exact same thing, or else it's so similar that it makes no difference.

i find the Haynes manual to be much better than Chilton, so get the Haynes if you can. however, when i built my first motor, i used Chilton and did just fine.

the building process only changes when you have to assemble 3 and 4 rotor engines, and i doubt if very many people on this board have to worry about those.

Ok, I find this very interresting, do I need a lot of things to do a good rebuilt ? As for the Haynes video, where could i find this video? What kind of knowledge do i need to make a good rebuild. It would be a dream for me to rebuild a rotary engine, i'm only 16 years old, and the rx-7s are my passion since 2 years. One day, i'm sure my 83 GS will need a rebuild of engine, so i would like to be able to do it. Thanks in advance guys.

I've never rebuilt a rotary before, but I don't expect to encounter any problems. Is there an online manual that tells you which direction the thrust bearings face? You know, stuff like that?

The haynes shows an exploded view of it...

I done quite a few, and its a simple task. Id rather do the motor than I would a carb LOL

yeah it really isnt that hard. there are some things that get annoying like those damn side seals and other little things. but when you slide that end piece on and bolt it down its the best feeling...hell yeah 100 posts!!

i havent rebuilt a piston engine but when you compare the 162 or so moving parts that a piston engine has to the 3 a rotary has you can imagine the difference in rebuilding one. you only need a few special pullers and such to do the job right.
