Need help sizing wheels for fender flares

Ok i am gonna pick up some cpracing fenderflares:

And i planned on picking up some cheap race wheels from http://www.circleracing.com/

But what i need to know is what i can fit under the car if i cut away the fenders with those flares.

Has anyone ran these? What sized wheels did you run? offset? Backspacing?

I was wanting to do some 16x7 in front and 16x8 in back.. and run some 225s up front with some 245s in back.

So what i need to know is what is the correct offset and stuff or how to measure it myself.

Thanks,
-Zach

You should probably send an email to CPRacing. Their was a similar thread to this last week, and I believe the conclusion was no one here has used them. At least no one who has used them posted in the thread.

If you can find out how much these flares stick out then we can probably figure out what size wheel you can fit under there.

How much does our stock fenders stick out?

Back spacing will always be the same.

Is this on a SE?

if it is there is a simple solution.

Go down to discount tire company and talk to them about what you want to do. A friend of mine was looking for wheels for his widebody volvo and went there.

He picked out two styles that he liked and they shipped in a bunch of different sizes and offsets, that were close to there measuments to see which one would fit best.

Needless to say, he got a badass set of wheels. Prices were somewhat high, but he was buying like 20x8 or 9s and this is a year or so ago.

anouther option (works if you dont have a SE also) is to get custom billet wheels from like boyd coddington or something.

I looked into it for my car, and some 16x7s were like $350 a pop, so thats not too bad and it will be a custom fit.

There are also tools you can buy that bolt to the hub and hold a tire so that you can measure backspacing and such.
you decided how wide of tires you want, buy/put them on this guage, bolt it to the hub and then position it in place and read the measurement.

I saw it on Horsepower TV, worked well.

Here is what they told me:

"Ehron, the flares do not require you to cut the car..if you wanted to(suggested) only the existing fedner lip need be removed, the car picture has 225/45/16 wheels are 5 inch back space and 7 inches wide. If you have any other questions let me know..."

Thanks Ehron!

Now i just wonder if a 245 would fit on there. with an 8" wheel

BTW Mine is an GSL-SE. but i dont think that will make a difference.

And if you want cheap wheels for racing checkout that circle racing website.. I am getting a whole set of 16s for ~$250.

GSL-SE's have a different offset. You can run more back spacing but less lip on GSL-SE's.

Ok So on a GSL-SE with 3.5" flares.

Running 16X7 & 16X8 wheels what would be the best offset/backspacing for a wheel?

On the 16x8s i wanted to try and get 245s on there.

Thanks for the help so far guys.

ZACH! You can't get those flares... that's what I was thinking of doing................... Oh well, two flared FB's running around the BN area is just fine with me.. mine might have a bit more torque though... HAMMAR was thinking of getting those flares as well....

Haha well I should ask which one! My GSL-SE is just a parts car.. WAY too rusty.. this is TESTA from CII's old car.. the $150 beater. But I drove it all weekend and took it to the K's meet and it was great. Unfortunately it has quite a bit of wheelwell/storage box rust

Which is why I hope to find a rustfree rolling chassis or get chunks of an Arizona rustfree car that I know of, soon.

Oh yeah and I still have that TII to finish up.. lol... sad that I have more interest in my $150 7 right now than an S5 TII.

I haven't decided yet. I know 1) is to make it reliable, 2) fix the rust, 3) decide where to go from there - that's if I get rid of the TII.

That 13B 6 port in the GSL-SE is just begging to be rebuilt and put in the 83

I have a 13B 6 port from my SE sitting around. its got a bad rear housing and rotor.

The front should be ok though.. has like ~100K miles.

I am sure i could be made to part with it either that or i am gonna make a coffee table out of parts of it.

Well supposedly my 13B is supposed to be good with just over 100k on it. Been sitting for awhile though! But I was planning on pulling it apart anyways.. I'd Love to put a 302 in it but after driving it all weekend it seems against the spirit of the car. A 13B with ~170 HP and fuel injection would be just as fun Also, I don't think the CP Racing rack will fit with a 302.........

No i don't believe it will. Hammer showed me pics of his seap (i believe a 350?) And the oilpan is in the way.

Actually if you do it get a set of 12A intermediate housings and make it into a 4 port 13B and have it ported with a 48 IDA weber carb.. it will make alot more then 170BHP.
