Found a cheap but good pair for sale, little did i know they were from what i believe is a 1980 california spec 12a(?) the egr is on the mid plate, so if i block off that hole, what else would i need to do? the ports on it are way smaller, would that make a difference? i switched from a later model 12a if that makes a helps with anything. where do i find one single tension bolt since i need 18 now? anything else i should know about doing this?

 

Post a pic of the irons. How many tension bolt holes do they have? The early 12A irons had one less tension bolt and will not work with 1979+ housings.

 

I do not currently have a pic of them, but im positive they have one less tension bolt as ive counted a few times to be sure. how would they not work? they bolted up just fine with the bolts i do have, is there something im missing?

 

The early 12A twin dizzy irons will not work with 1979+ 12A housings.

 

ohh i see what you mean. my bad for bad wording, i meant early rx7 12a as in 1980 irons. not pre rx7 irons haha
