need help with installing FD alt into SA

i know installing an FD alt into an SA is differnt than into a FB.all the info i can find is for the FB swap. the SA alt is externally regulated and i dont know what i need to do to get this alt to work. i have the plug for the FD alt, so now all i need to do is wire it up. id like to do this right rather than send my money straight down crapper

any help is greatly appreciated. pics or diagrams are a +++

I believe there is a thread in the archives for converting an SA to the FB/S4 alts, which removes the ballast resistors. Once that is done, you should be able to follow the conversion process for the S5 and later alts. You have a 2 step mod instead of one.

here is a diagram of how my system was. Have done the swop to s5 alt and it works well. dash light works, and battery holds charge

here is a picture of my s5 alt plug. yellow wire is S terminal. White wire is L terminal. The S terminal i connected a fuse to and wired it up to a constant power source. The white wire i connected to my white wire (1) in the diagram above - the one which eventually goes to the white/black in the bottom right of the mega black plug.
