On R5 irons it's screwed in. Including on my SA. The original fitting is NLA, too - - tried to get a new one during my current build.

I have an r5 plate with the heater core nipple threaded. It is a metric straight thread, and not a pipe thread.

i just wanna say i love the car. that what mine looked like about 7 years ago befor it got sunburnt. doing new paint job this summer tho after the rebuild......................... as for the orignal post sorry dont know any thing about that typ of motor. i hope it all works out tho.
