Need help with heater

Ok so my blower motor? not sure if thats what its called. wont come on. but yesterday i put a new fuse in and turned it on it came on and started blowing air out the vents for about 2 seconds then blew the fuse. could this be a short in the wiring? or is somthing wrong with the blower motor? agian not sure if thats the proper name. lol

Car is an 83 gsl

It could be something as simple as debris binding the blower shaft or dirty, worn or rubbing blower bearings, or a rubbing impeller (fan cage), causing current draw to be too high.

Could also be a shorted winding in the motor.

Short sounds right. I had the same prob with mine. I took the resistor wire thingy out of the blower motor housing under passgr side dash. Not sure what its called but it had 2 or 3 coiled wires that went on the inside of the housing that were all rusted and pretty messed up. I assumed this was the prob. I just wired up a switch to the motor and it worked. Only have high but at least I got Something for now. The price of that little thing slips my mind but it is kinda hard for me to find so Thats why I hard wired it. I'm sure I could find one at the junkyard I just havent looked lately.
